Challenges that I anticipate as I continue to implement these new ideas in my school would be lack of enough buy-in even after using the Data Overview to tell our story. In addition, getting teachers to take ownership of their part in our student achievement rather than the “blame game” is where I think I could meet some push back. Furthermore, making a strong commitment to really drill down into the student data analyses, while making action plans and monitoring our progress as we continue to improve in the process as a school is another area that may be met with much resistance. Overall, I really enjoyed this course and look forward to using all of the knowledge, skills, and dispositions acquired to not only be an effective Data Coach, but to change the way students learn and teachers educate the children that walk into our classrooms everyday. I believe we can use data effectively to close the student achievement gap as well as empower teachers in the process as well.
